Bill Dorland

Chairman

Bill was first elected to the board in 2006, becoming 1st Vice President in 2009 and resides at RR #7, Brighton, Ontario. Bill is President of Dorland Farms Ltd., an eighth generation dairy farm in partnership with his wife Arlene and son Justin. Bill is currently chairman of the Northumberland Dairy Producers and past president of the Holstein Club and past president of Jr. Farmers. His hobbies are curling, golfing and camping.

Van Darling

1st Vice Chairman

Van first joined the board in February, 2006 and lives at RR #1, Castleton, Ontario which is located in Morganston in Cramahe Township. Van became 2nd Vice President in February 2009. At this location Van is a partner in the family cow/calf and cash crop operation. He has also retailed agri business through his involvement as a board member of the local co-operative. In the past, Van has been a director with the Northumberland Pork Producers, Northumberland Cattlemen and Warkworth Co-operative Services. In his formative years, Van was a 4H Team Leader and a member of the Northumberland Junior Farmers. In his spare time Van likes to curl.

Bob Burley

2nd Vice Chairman

Bob joined our board in February 2007 and resides at 4804 #7 Highway, RR #1, Omemee, Ontario. Bob operates a mixed beef/hog operation with his father and also provides general farm labour to farmers in the area. Bob serves on the boards of the Ontario Association of Animal Health Technicians as well as the Ontario Agricultural Training Institute where he represents Ontario Pork. He is also involved in local farm and church organizations. He assures us his only bad habit is collecting glass insulators.

David Crowley

Director

David is currently the Past President of the Norwood Agricultural Society, Past Chairman of the Board of Directors for HTM Insurance Company in Cobourg, and currently Chairman of the Asphodel- Norwood Police Services Board and Board member for the Peterborough Community Futures Development Corporation.

David Rutherford

Director

Dave joined our board of directors in October of 2008. Dave was appointed by our board of directors to fill a vacant seat from a retiring director. At the February 28, 2009 annual meeting, Dave was elected to a full three year term. Dave and his wife Sherry live in Colborne. They are the owners and operators of Rutherford's Farm and Roadside Market.

Don Honey

Director

Don was first elected to the board at the annual meeting held in February 2004 and served as President from February, 2007 to February 2009. Don has lived his entire life at RR #5 Warkworth, Ontario and has always farmed. Since 1995, Don has cash cropped and had beef cattle and prior to that, he was a dairy farmer. Don served on the Warkworth Co-op board for eighteen years, as well, he is a past President of the Northumberland Milk Committee.

Eugene Brahaney

Director

Eugene became a director in February 1993 and served as company President in 2002 and 2003. For 35 years, Eugene was a dairy farmer and currently runs a cow/calf operation as well as grain crops. Eugene is quite active in the community having served 21 years as a school trustee, three times as chairman, Campbellford-Seymour Agricultural Society president, Campbellford Rebels Junior Hockey executive, Northumberland Federation of Agriculture Township director and Northumberland East director for the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and resides at RR #2 Hastings, Ontario (Trent Hills).

Bruce Buttar

Director

Bruce was first elected to the board in 2007. Bruce lives on a dairy farm in Plainville, Ontario and with his family milks 85 cows and farms about 500 acres for feed and cash crop. Bruce has been involved with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture and in particular was a member of the Farm Finance Trade and Taxation Committee. He is a provincial director with the Federation of Agriculture, a vice president of the Northumberland Dairy producer committee and a past president of the Port Hope Agricultural Society. He enjoys skiing and riding his motorcycle.

Allan Sheppard

Director

Allan was appointed to our board in October of 2007 and was re-elected in February of 2008. Allan lives at 5225 Macklin Road, RR #4 Roseneath, Ontario where he carries on his business as a fur farmer. Prior to getting involved in fur farming Allan was a dairy farmer. Allan is also a District Fire Chief for the local fire department and in that capacity is a member of the Fire Chiefs, Northumberland County association. Allan is also on the board of the National Chinchilla Breeders of Canada and is a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Alec Harmer CIP

CIP, President & CEO

Alec started at HTM in September of 2011. His career began in 1982 with Halwell Mutual in Guelph and in his last nineteen years, Alec was the General Manager of Tradition Mutual in Sebringville. During his career, Alec has been on a number of committees for the Mutual’s association, Ontario Mutual Insurance Association(OMIA). He has been on the board of directors for OMIA, Insurance Institute (Southwestern Chapter) and MCCG ( a mutual owned software company). Alec enjoys the cottage life and has a family cottage near Kinmount Ontario. Alec & his wife Lori now live in the town of Cobourg.

Terrye Calnan FCIP CRM

Secretary Treasurer, Manager of Finance & Technology

Terrye began her career with the company in May of 1986 after graduating from Loyalist College in 1985. She currently heads up our finance/accounting department and is in charge of our various computer operations. Terrye attained her CIP (Chartered Insurance Professional) designation in 2002, her FCIP (Fellow Chartered Insurance Professional) in 2009 and her CRM (Canadian Risk Management) in 2010. Over the years, Terrye has been quite involved with committees of the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association (OMIA) and is also currently serving as a director of the Mutual Concept Computer Group. Her hobbies include golf, travel and all kinds of sports. Terrye resides in Warkworth, Ontario.

Joanne Winter, CIP

Underwriting Manager

Originally from Renfrew in the Ottawa Valley, Joanne joined HTM in 1988 after spending some time in the Trust Company field, providing investment services. Joanne is a Chartered Insurance Professional of the Insurance Institute of Canada and also has a diploma in Social Services. While at HTM, Joanne has had a number of positions and most recently was a Farm Underwriter. She has two grown daughters and resides in Cobourg. Her hobbies include golf, travel and cheering for the Ottawa Senators.

Steven O’Connell BSc CIP

Manager of Claims Services

A native of Ottawa, Steve moved to the area to complete his education earning a Bachelor of Science - Economics from Trent University. He worked as an independent Adjuster before joining HTM Insurance in 1992. He is a recognized Chartered Insurance Professional with the Insurance Institute of Canada and has held the position of Claims Manager for the past 12 years. He has two grown children; Laura and Wesley and presently resides in Peterborough, ON.
